Of Adam

and elusive Eve, etc.,
Gertrude Stein’s
purported to have said,

“It’s not the answer
but the question,”
when even cremation’s

the interment of Adams,
fast-forwarded; Death,
the dizzying impetus

of poetry, but birth
reversed; Life
a matter of Adams,

a circus of atoms
charged momentarily
with desire.
