Yet still

Time can silence the gift of speech,
cheapen or destroy laughter for
too many moments may be spent
forgetting and remembering.

Time, like the space around you, stays
refusing to ease for even
an instant, leaving you possessed
of mere consequence. A quiet
without beauty, reticence.
