  Two People

 Kat Lemmons

He said that it would make him happy
So she opened his chest,
Placing her overnight bag
In his anxious heart.

The little bottles of conditioner, soap, and deodorant
Swam around, making homes,
Making him smile a smile
That narrowed his green eyes into glitter.

She kissed him then,
Stepping back to admire
The convenience
Of hiding.
